Seminars and workshops have been delivered to the general public, different professionals as well as to graduate and post-graduate students in Hong Kong and in China. Topics of the presentations include:

Communication, language and speech assessment on children with cleft lip and palate
Autism: communication problems and training perspectives
Speech and language workshop on articulation therapy for the profoundly hearing-impaired school aged children
The roles of speech therapists in a cochlear implantation program
Speech and language habilitation for hearing-impaired children after cochlear implantation
Comprehensive speech and language assessment for the hearing-impaired children

The center has been undertaking research on various communication disorders with emphases on the clinical application of the research results. Scopes of the research projects include:
Lexical tone production and perception of the Cantonese-speakers
Long-term speech perception outcomes of cochlear implantees
Vocabulary survey on Cantonese-speaking children
Construction and standardization of speech perception tests
Construction of Cantonese tone perception test
Speech perception ability of children with hearing aids and cochlear implants
Voice disorders in school teachers
Swallowing and speech disorders in patients with laryngeal cancer
Provide professional advice regarding communication disorders to other organizations such as the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Rehabilitation / The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation and the Aspire Project / The Hong Kong Institute of Education
To work closely with other organizations, e.g. Hear-Talk Foundation on carrying out community projects relating to communication disorders
Provide speech therapy consultation service.
